About Stores Directorate:

Stores Directorate caters to the materials requirements of various directorates of RDSO. It is the nodal directorate of RDSO for IREPS / GeM related issues. Stores Directorate also plays an advisory role on matters pertaining to Stores.

It has two wings: Purchase office and Central Stores Depot (CSD). Purchase Office deals in procurement of approximately 1600 demands per annum, ranging from items required for civil, telecom and electrical maintenance to stationery, computers, clothing, furniture, paints, oils, lubricants, tools and plants, small equipments, spares of machines and also of complex R&D items. Central Stores Depot consist of 4 stocking wards (01-Clothing Ward, 02-General Ward, 03-Stationary Ward, & 04-M&C Ward), stocking 335 items having annual issue value of around Rs.2 Crores. In addition, there is a receipt and inspection ward and a scrap clearance section. All unserviceable (scrap) materials collected from different Directorates of RDSO are being delivered to General Stores Depot, Alambagh, N. Railway , Lucknow (the nominated scrap disposal centre for RDSO) for further disposal

Brief Achievements

  1. Stores Directorate/RDSO has achieved 100% e-tendering for Global, Open and Limited tenders through IREPS portal www.ireps.gov.in, wherein prospective bidders can submit their digitally signed and fully secured e-offers. Stores department has also started e-acceptance of offers (e-LOA), e-tender committee (e-TC) proceedings and online EMD refund. Stock and Non Stock demands are being generated online and forwarded though UDM ensuring an environment of complete digitized Supply Chain Management.

  2. Common Goods and services available on GeM portal are being procured through GeM Portal.

  3.  Unified Vendor Approval Module (UVAM) has been implemented with the help of CRIS which is functioning as a single window for all vendors for registration in RDSO, CORE & PUs. This has promoted transparency and efficiency in the vendor registration process.

  4. User Depot Module (UDM) has been implemented in RDSO since Feb-2021.Thus, supply chain system has been completely digitized by bringing all Directorates of RDSO on UDM platform. Online payment for non-stock items has also been initiated since Feb-2022.

  5.  During year 2024-25 ,Stores Directorate has finalised procurement of few very important items like Terrain Imaging for Locomotive Drivers -Infrared, Enhanced Optical and Range finder Assisted (TRI- NETRA) to alert the drivers of any physical obstruction on railway tracks ahead and give time for the driver to apply the brakes to prevent train accidents ,Renewal of Vehicle Dynamics Software (NUCARS) for simulating and analysing rail vehicle behaviour, High-performance Laser Scanner system for track monitoring, infrastructure assessment, and safety checks., Hand Push TRIBOMETER (Rail Surface Friction Meter) for measuring the coefficient of friction (COF) between a wheel and a rail etc.
