Electrical Maintenance Section (EMS)
Power supply and AC arrangement for RDSO complex including service building and residential quarters are looked after by EMS. It carries out electrical maintenance of all equipment installed in service buildings as well as residential quarters of RDSO colony.
In the field of Green Energy, two grid-connected Solar Power plants have been installed in the premises of RDSO.
Publication Section
Publication Section deals with collection, compilation and editing of material for RDSO and Railway Board’s publications.
Public Relation Branch
The Public Relation branch takes care of visiting dignitaries as well as affords necessary assistance to the students/trainees from different institutes. Constant liaison is also maintained with the electronic and print media to keep the common man aware of the special type of works being done by this research organization of Indian Railways.
Central Library
Central Library of RDSO is located on the 1st floor of Annexe-I (Manak Bhavan) building. Considerable efforts and resources have been put into the development of an exquisite collection of knowledge resources to the growing needs of research & development.
The library is divided into following sections:-

PUBLIC RELATION
The Public Relation branch takes care of visiting dignitaries as well as affords necessary assistance to the VIPs visits and various Exhibitions. Public Relation branch also organised different Events & National Functions i.e. Republic day, Shaheed Diwas, Railway Week award function, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti, Anti-terrorism Day, Environment Day, International Yoga Day, Independence Day, Sadbhavana Diwas, National Unity Day, Constitution Day & Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Mahaparinirvan Diwas at promises RDSO.
PUBLICATION SECTION
All the major information and results of RDSO’s activities of research reports, codes, manuals and specifications etc. are published in Annual Report. Besides, RDSO brings out quarterly magazine “Indian Railway Technical Bulletin” containing technical articles on topics of railway interest. The quarterly house journal “RDSO Highlights” covering prominent activities of the organization and vigilance bulletin of RDSO Vigilance Cell is also published by Publication section.
Publication Section deals with collection, compilation and editing of material for Railway Board’s publications as Indian Railway Magazine (English & Hindi), Indian Railway Year Book and DG’s Article for publication in IR Magazine (Annual Special Issue).

ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE SECTION
Electrical Maintenance Section ensures power supply, pumping arrangement for water supply, Air-Conditioning arrangement & general maintenance of all electrical equipments installed in various service buildings such as Abhiklap Bhavan, Anusandhan Bhavan, Manak Bhavan & other offices, labs etc.. EMS also provide emergency power supply to these buildings through DG sets. Apart from these, Electrical Maintenance Section also ensure maintenance of external/internal power supply arrangement of the residential quarters of RDSO colony including rest houses i.e. MRVC, VIP, ORH & NDT Hostel etc in RDSO campus.
TRANSPORT SECTION
Transport Section is responsible for handling vehicle and air ticket booking requests of HAG, SAG, JAG and JAG (SG) officers of RDSO, Lucknow and other visiting officers of Railway Board and PUs on duty on monthly and call basis. At present, 05 contracts are under operation for providing hired vehicle of Sedan, Premium Sedan, SUV and Premium SUV segment to the officers as and when required at Lucknow and New Delhi. All the above contracts are finalised through GeM. The procurement of Air ticket is done from IRCTC.
Other than providing hired vehicle and air ticket to officers, Transport Section is also responsible for maintenance and service of Government Staff Car, creation of proposal for floating of Tender and other miscellaneous work related to private firms.
