Indian Railways purchase components, assemblies and other equipments for the production and
maintenance of its rolling stock and infrastructure.
Indian Railways approve and enlist vendors for the procurement of some of these items which are
vital and have a role in the safety of train operations.
The purpose of approving vendors for safety and vital items is to ensure quality so that safety is
not compromised.
The exercise of vendor approval is conducted independently by the following units:-
