About Rolling Stock Department:
Design, Development of various kinds of Electric Locomotives and their equipments, along with development of new Locomotives and its equipment’s with modern technology. Department works in co-ordination with ZR’s/PU’s in improving reliability of Electric Locomotive and their equipment’s by issuing necessary technical instructions. Capacity-cum-Capability Assessment & Type testing jointly with PU’s for TM, Propulsion system, VCU & Transformer of 3-Phase Locomotives. Development of vendors for various items like Brake system, Bearings, Rubber items, HRPT, New Technology items etc. Carry out simulation study for Haulage capacity of different types of Locomotives in different conditions i.e. Load, Gradient, Curve, Speed etc.

Brief Acheivements in 2021-2022:

Development of End of Train Telemetry (EoTT) System.

Development of computer/Microprocessor controlled Brake system for three phase Electric Locomotive.

Development of 9000 HP Electric Locomotives designated as WAG-9HH. All prototype tests for Siemens, Medha & BHEL completed except EMI/EMC tests of BHEL.

Development of functionality Equivalent PCB cards of GTO/MICAS-(VCU) based three phase Electric Locomotive.

Development of EP assisted Brake system for 3-phase Electric Locomotive to improve Brake application & release time.

Revision of specification for 12000 HP three phase Locomotive to incorporate various feature like water closet, EoTT, DPWCS, CVVRS & KAVACH.
