Welcome to Works Directorate

Role of Directorate:

Works Directorate started functioning independently from September 2008. Works directorate is dealing with unification and standardization of works matter, issue guidelines/specification of works matter and preparation of works programme. Works directorate conducts Works Standards Committee (WSC) meeting and follow up action on WSC items and other technical issues cropping up from time to time, through unit of Director/Works. Works unit also deals with vendor registration of TMT Reinforcement Bars for supply in Indian Railway.

Works directorate is also responsible for maintenance of RDSO offices, colony & other infrastructural assets including construction of new assets through unit of Director/Civil

Brief Achievements in last one year:

  1. Works pertaining to implementation of CPWD - DSR for Road and Building works in Indian Railway.
  2. Works pertaining to implementation of IR New USSOR - 2019 for Bridge works, Earthworks and P. way Items.
  3. Drawings of cattle fence along the track using precast panel & column and barbed wire fencing with precast column.
  4. Revised guideline covering new technology on Water proofing in old/new construction.
  5. Provisional Report on Sewage Treatment Plant for Indian Railway.
  6. Report on Water Recycling plant for Indian Railway sent to IRICEN, Pune for suggestion/ comments.
  7. List of various eco-friendly materials based on fly ash, available in CPWD DSR has been issued to Zonal Railways for their use to the maximum extent possible in Indian Railway.
  8. Prepared and submitted report on “Innovative Emerging Technologies” as per instructions received from the Railway Board, based on the “Compendium of Innovative Emerging Technologies” issued by Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs.
  9. Fresh approval and Quality Audit of firmscarried out for manufacture & supply of TMT Reinforcement bars.
  10. Face lifting and up gradation of building of Track Machine Monitoring Directorate, Geo-Tech Directorate, Air Brake Lab, TI Lab, Central Workshopand Psycho Lab.
  11. Provision of auto chlorinator at 12 nos. pump houses in RDSO campus.
  12. Complete cleanliness, disinfection & sanitization done effectively against COVID-19
  13. Provision of additional toilets in type –III quarters in RDSO colony (phase-III 110 nos.)

 

Current Assignment in hand:

  • Green Building certifications of RDSO’s Administrative Building, Annexe –I &Annexe-II.
  • Report on Green building material.
  • Report on various type of modern doors and windows.
  • Guidelines on Water Recycling Plant (WRP).
  • Fresh approval, Quality Audit & Testing of TMT reinforcement bar manufacturing firms for supply to Indian Railway.
  • Provision of additional toilets in type – III quarters in RDSO colony (phase-II 162 Nos.)
  • Renovation and Face Lifting of B&S lab, M&C lab, Berthing Lab and B.D. Lab.
  • Improvement of damaged drain, boundary wall, pathway etc. from Langra Phatak to ORH.
  • Setting up of New Measuring Wheel Laboratory in the existing premises of ED Lab.
  • Provision of fire suppression system at Administrative Building, Annexe-I & Annexe-II Building.
  • Up gradation of sheds in Berthing Complex at RDSO for testing and commissioning of new track monitoring system.
  • Provision of modular kitchen in type –V duplex quarters of RDSO (25 Nos.).d
  • Renovation of toilets in type V & type V duplex quarters (165 Nos.).
