Welcome to Store Directorate
Stores Directorate caters to various materials requirements for RDSO, including advisory role on matters pertaining to Stores. It has two sections viz Purchase office and Central Stores Depot.
Purchase Office deals in procurement of approximately 1500 demands per annum, pertaining to items of civil, telecom and electrical maintenance to items ranging from stationery, computers, clothing, furniture, paints, oils, lubricants, tools and plants, small equipments, spares of machines and also of complex R&D items involving imports as well. The range and nature of items being procured is very wide and complex. Procurement is governed and guided by Stores code, Finance code, Rules for entering into supply contract, Model Schedule of Powers and instructions issued by Ministry of Railways/ Railway Board from time to time. The Stores contracts are governed by Indian Standard Conditions of contract and General conditions of contract.
Central Stores Depot consist of 4 stocking wards (01-Clothing Ward, 02-General Ward, 03-Stationary Ward, & 04-M&C Ward), stocking and issuing about 550 items having annual turnover value of Rs 2 Crores. In addition there is a receipt and inspection ward and a scrap clearance section. All unwanted (scrap) materials are handed over to General Stores Depot, Alambagh, N.Railway, Lucknow, the nodal scrap disposal centre.
Stores Directorate is ISO 9001:2008 complied. Various categories of documents held by Stores Directorate are Purchase files, Stores depot ledgers and registers for recording/maintaining of demands, ISO files etc.
Transparency: Stores Directorate/RDSO has achieved 100% e-tendering for Global, Open and Limited tenders through IREPS portal www.ireps.gov.in, wherein prospective bidders can submit their e-offers digitally signed and fully secured. Stores department has also started e-tender committee (e-TC) proceedings, e-acceptance of offers (e-LOA), Online issuance of Purchase Orders and Online refund of EMD. Items of general nature available on GeM (Government e-Marketplace) are purchased through GeM portal www.gem.gov.in.
All the Stores activities are managed by a very small group which is about 1.5% of RDSO’s staff strength.
