Celebration of 79th Independence Day in RDSO
79th Independence Day was celebrated with full enthusiasm in RDSO on 15.08.2025. Shri Uday Borwanker,Director General/RDSOhoisted the national flag and took the salute from the RPF Contingentin this programme, organised at the New Auditorium.
On this occasion, he paid homage to the unparalleled sacrifices of the freedom fighters and extended his best wishes to everyone on Independence Day, stating that independence is not only a right but also a responsibility to contribute towards nation-building. He expressed his gratitude to all RDSO employees whose tireless efforts and dedication have been continuously contributing significantly to the progress and modernization of Indian Railways.
In his address, the Director General highlighted several major technical works and projects done by RDSO, which included the development of the ‘Kavach’ system in collaboration with industry partners to enhance train operation safety and the release of its upgraded Version 4.0, the indigenous development of the Signalling Design Automation Tool (SigDATE) in collaboration with IIT Kharagpur, inspection of 42 speed certificates for various rolling stock during 2025-26, oscillation and emergency braking distance tests for Vande Bharat Sleeper Rake, issuance of specifications for IoT-based water level indicators to improve passenger amenities, and issuance of specifications for the construction of hydrogen-powered trains as part of green energy projects. In addition, he mentioned the establishment of ‘Ladies Rooms’ in the Anusandhaan Bhawan and Manak Bhawan to ensure better facilities for women employees and environmental conservation initiatives, including the plantation of 6,000 saplings, and the development of a Bird Sanctuary and Butterfly Garden in RDSO.
In the end, the Director General congratulated all officers, employees, and their family members, urging them to actively contribute towards the nation’s progress, environmental protection, cleanliness, education, and social welfare, so that RDSO can soon establish itself as a world-class research organisation. The Director General also presented certificates of appreciation to five RDSO employees for their outstanding work. The event was attended in large numbers by senior officers, employees, and their families, and featured cultural performances filled with patriotic fervour. Additionally, Smt. Manisha Borwanker, President of the Railway Women’s Welfare Association (RWWA), RDSO, along with other members of the RWWA, visited patients admitted at the RDSO Hospital, extended Independence Day greetings, wished them a speedy recovery, and distributed gifts.
